Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to oversee a variety of minor capital works projects ranging from $100K to $10M at The University of Sydney’s Camperdown campus. This is a unique opportunity to manage critical infrastructure upgrades and ensure the timely, efficient, and quality completion of projects such as cladding, roofing, lift upgrades, chillers, and HVAC systems. The role will initially be for 6 months with the potential for extension, depending on project needs and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning & Coordination: Develop and execute detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, resources, and risk assessments for capital works projects.
- Team Leadership: Lead and manage project teams, including contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and university stakeholders.
- Budget & Cost Management: Ensure projects are delivered within the agreed budget, proactively addressing any cost overruns or delays.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor work progress to ensure compliance with university standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain clear and consistent communication with internal and external stakeholders, including university staff, contractors, and suppliers.
- Reporting: Provide regular project updates and status reports to senior management, ensuring that issues or risks are identified and resolved quickly.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven experience as a Construction Project Manager overseeing projects in the minor capital works space (ranging from $100K to $10M).
- Demonstrated experience in cladding, roofing, HVAC, and chillers projects.
- Strong understanding of construction project delivery, including tendering, procurement, contract management, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Relevant qualifications in Construction Management, Engineering, or related fields.
- Experience working within educational institutions or large-scale commercial projects is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Availability to start ASAP and commit to the 6-month contract term.
