Key duties and responsibilities
- Work effectively across teams to provide systems expertise to enhance and improve existing solutions, including designing, developing, implementing, and testing solutions, in line with business requirements and software development standards.
- Work collaboratively with other teams to investigate and resolve complex issues with the operation of infrastructure and infrastructure as code.
- Work effectively with other teams to investigate and resolve complex issues with the implementation of the Azure platform.
- Ensure deadlines are consistently met and that a high standard of technical and design documentation is provided.
- Define, develop and document the existing automation technologies to enhance the system’s build, test and deployment capabilities.
- Assist the application development teams with the development and maintenance of DevOps continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) pipelines.
- Work as part of an Agile Delivery Teams or the System Team
- Perform additional duties or assume responsibility of functions as required
Technical skills
• Azure Engineer
Mandatory Criteria
Knowledge and experience in implementing enterprise IT solutions consuming Azure services including, but not limited to:
- Infrastructure as a service (IaaS) o Serverless Compute - Azure Functions, Web Apps
- Storage - blobs, files shares, queues and tables
- Integration - Service Bus and Event Hub
- Identity - Entra ID (AAD), Azure B2C and Entra ID Connect, Service Principal creation.
- API Management (APIM) - developing APIs, APIM maintenance and infrastructure
- Experience with managing, maintaining and migrating solution infrastructure to the Azure platform from on-premises or other private cloud infrastructure.
- Demonstrated experience with creating and maintaining solution infrastructure on the Azure platform including:
- Identity maintenance and management (service principals, managed identities, etc)
- Patching Activities o Azure resource cost optimization through scaling or reservations
- Proficiency in developing Azure DevOps CI/CD YAML pipelines for the deployment of Infrastructure using Bicep and/or ARM
- Demonstrated knowledge of risk management principles and processes in context of Infrastructure management
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across all levels and influence key stakeholders
Desirable Criteria
- Relevant qualifications in IT, including cloud certification. Experience with GIT version control and common branching strategies.
- Understanding of Azure networking concepts and technologies. Demonstrated knowledge of the Commonwealth frameworks including IT frameworks such as ITIL and TOGAF.
- Knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements for cloud infrastructure.
- Experience with monitoring tools and logging frameworks to ensure the reliability and security of deployed solutions.
- Ability to work with geographically dispersed teams, and with technical and non-technical staff at all levels. Ability to mentor and collaborate effectively with team members.
