Civil Asset Maintenance Engineer
About the Role
Join our team as a Civil Asset Maintenance Engineer and play a crucial role in maintaining and improving our council’s civil infrastructure. Reporting to the Senior Coordinator Civil Asset Maintenance and Administration, you will oversee construction and maintenance projects, supervise contractors and staff, and ensure compliance with legislative and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
... - Assist in managing the Civil Asset Maintenance Section, ensuring efficient and effective maintenance of Council assets.
- Supervise subordinate staff and contractors, ensuring high standards of service delivery.
- Schedule and oversee annual improvement programs and individual projects.
- Prepare accurate pre-construction estimates and maintain cost control throughout project stages.
- Develop and implement environmental and safety standards in service delivery.
- Liaise with public authorities, ensuring compliance with regulations and minimising project delays.
- Establish and maintain quality control measures for all projects.
- Identify operational improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Ensure that all work meets relevant specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Manage traffic control plans for road construction projects.
- Represent Council in public and legal matters where necessary.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- A relevant four-year degree in civil engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in civil infrastructure maintenance and construction.
- Experience in supervising day labour staff and contractors.
- Extensive knowledge of construction, maintenance, and management of civil infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of applicable legislation and regulations.
- A valid Class “C” driver’s licence.
Desirable:
- Experience working in local government within an engineering role.
Work Health & Safety (WHS)
- Implement and comply with Council’s WHS Management System.
- Ensure compliance with Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and WHS Regulation 2017.
- If applicable, comply with Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) and Child Protection regulations.
