The Role
The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and optimising the capacity of our workloads (AWS), ensuring high availability, and implementing strategies to enhance system performance.
Duties include:
- Develop and implement capacity planning strategies for HKM System and resources (AWS), ensuring optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.
- Monitor resource utilisation and proactively plan for capacity upgrades to meet growing demands.
- Work with the customer to understand, anticipate and influence future demand for services (Demand Management) and feeding the demand pipeline information into capacity planning models to enable sufficient capacity
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to identify and address performance bottlenecks.
- Implement performance tuning strategies to optimise the efficiency of system resources.
- Maintain high availability solutions for critical systems and applications.
- Conduct regular assessments and audits to identify and mitigate potential points of failure.
- Follow the automate first approach to automate the deployment and scaling of resources
- Implement automation scripts and workflows to streamline repetitive tasks.
- Maintain monitoring tools to track system performance and availability.
- Optimise alerts and notifications to quickly respond to potential issues and outages.
- Adhere security best practices and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with the security team to address vulnerabilities and mitigate security risks.
- Involvement in the deployment of applications into multiple on premise and disconnected environments
- Create/Maintain operational documentation
Qualifications
You will also need to be able to demonstrate:
- Working knowledge and experience with ITIL concepts and processes
- Proven experience within ITIL Capacity and Availability disciplines, with a focus on cloud resource management (AWS).
- Proactive, self-starter, able to troubleshoot problems from start to resolution and document the findings.
- Proficiency in resource management software and tools.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Nagios) and performance tuning.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Understanding of cloud computing principles, AWS services, and best practices will be advantageous
- Understanding of DevOps tools and concepts, IaC will be advantageous
- An ability to work independently with limited guidance
- Good written and verbal communications with the ability to write and present briefs as required, along with writing and interpreting policy
