As a Senior Business Analyst, you will bridge the gap between finance, IT, and business stakeholders to enhance and optimise processes across the Credit and Billing function. Your role will involve mapping business requirements, analysing financial data, leading projects, and recommending strategic opportunities for process improvements that support optimal financial decision-making. This role plays a critical part in reducing Bad Debt Expense (BDE) and ensuring effective management of billing and credit processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Delivery – Financial Systems and Processes
- Apply expertise in finance and credit management systems to guide development and execution of action plans.
- Lead and participate in projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with financial goals.
- Manage financial relationships with stakeholders, ensuring that all project deliverable meet financial and operational requirements.
- Provide advice on regulatory and financial policy, assisting in the development and communication of financial systems and processes.
- Project Analysis & Financial Reporting
- Produce financial documentation for key projects (business requirements, scope matrix, business cases, etc.).
- Analyse and synthesise financial data to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements in billing, credit, and collections processes.
- Collaborate with finance and IT teams to deliver high-quality solutions that enhance the financial impact of billing and credit management.
- Risk Assessment & Financial Impact Management
- Identify financial risks across credit approvals, fraud, and bad debt impacts.
- Develop risk registers, recommending mitigation strategies where necessary.
- Work closely with senior stakeholders to report on financial risks and project status, ensuring timely intervention where required.
- Financial Initiative Planning and Communication
- Develop and maintain financial project plans and schedules, ensuring that budgets and milestones are adhered to.
- Track and report financial progress regularly, providing updates on key financial milestones and issues that may impact project outcomes.
- Facilitate communication between finance teams and other stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of initiatives.
- Financial Process Mapping & Improvement
- Map financial processes across systems, ensuring that procedures are efficient, accurate, and aligned with best practices.
- Identify opportunities to streamline financial operations, focusing on cost reduction, efficiency improvements, and risk minimisation.
- Budgeting & Financial Forecasting
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities for allocated project funds, ensuring that expenses are within the approved limits.
- Work with the finance team to ensure accurate invoicing and timely payments according to project milestones.
- Monitor capital expenditure (Capex) and operational expenditure (Opex) for project funding, ensuring financial resources are used effectively.
Key Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
- Working experience in the telecommunications industry
- Proven experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting in a complex business environment.
- Strong understanding of Billing, Credit, Fraud, and Collections systems, with a focus on financial outcomes and risk mitigation.
- Expertise in financial reporting and data analysis tools such as SQL, Cognos, Tableau, or advanced Excel.
- Proven track record of successfully leading financial projects and process improvements within a structured project management methodology.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence senior management and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Desirable
- Lean Six Sigma certification (Black Belt or Green Belt).
- Experience with Agile project management methodologies.
- Experience in delivering CAPEX and OPEX projects.
- Exposure to omni-channel customer experiences.
