Are you a detail-oriented finance professional seeking a role where you can make a direct impact within a Federal Government agency? This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the organisation's important work for the benefit of Australians. You'll be part of a dynamic team focused on achieving key organisational goals.
You will play a key role in the accounts payable function and contribute to month-end accounting tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage supplier invoices.
- Monitor three-way matching of supplier invoices (Purchase Order, Receipt, Invoice) and ensure timely payment.
- Ensure accuracy of general ledger information on supplier invoices, including GST coding, cost allocation, and project costing, and match expenses against budgeted items.
- Perform weekly and ad hoc payment runs as required.
- Manage accounts payable vendor queries and respond to emails/queries in the Accounts Payable Inbox.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts to supporting records (Bank reconciliation, Accounts Payable, Account Receivable).
- Perform monthly operational journals (Prepayments, Deferred Revenue, Expense Recognition).
- Raise ad-hoc customer invoices.
- Assist and lead various projects/initiatives as required by the Manager Corporate Accounting and Senior Accountant.
- Seek efficiencies in the accounts payable processes.
Essential Criteria:
- Experience in an Assistant Accountant role with Accounts Payable focus.
- Has excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to meet deadlines, determine priorities, and organise work.
- Has good numerical skills, attention to detail, and accuracy.
- Has a positive attitude and is eager to assist with queries.
- Ability to work autonomously or in a team, as required.
Desirable Criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting (preferable).
- Proficiency in Accounting software (Workday preferable).
- Experience working in a financial services organisation will be advantageous.
