Are you an experienced Accountant with a strong background in financial management, analysis, and reporting? A well-regarded public sector organisation is seeking a detail-oriented professional to join their Finance & Business Intelligence team.

About the Role:

As an Accountant (ASO3), you will play a critical role in ensuring financial compliance, supporting budgeting processes, and delivering high-quality financial reporting and analysis. You will collaborate with key stakeholders across government agencies, external financial partners, and internal teams to drive operational excellence and financial accountability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in financial reconciliation, reporting, and compliance processes.
• Support budget forecasting and performance analysis.
• Maintain the integrity of financial records, including accrual journals and asset registers.
• Contribute to the preparation of financial statements and audit processes.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to improve decision-making.
• Ensure adherence to financial policies, government regulations, and audit standards.
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including Treasury, auditors, and external service providers.

About You:

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Commerce (majoring in Accounting).
• Strong experience in management accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
• Knowledge of accrual accounting standards, financial principles, and best practices.
• Ability to provide sound financial advice and analysis on business decisions.
• High-level attention to detail, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to foster collaboration and trust.
• Proficiency in financial systems, reporting tools (e.g., MS Excel, PowerBI), and Office 365.
• Previous experience in the public sector is highly desirable.
