About the Opportunity
The Strategic Communications Officer is a leadership role responsible for addressing issues and managing risks across various activities. This position involves leading, planning, resource management, performance oversight, and decision-making within the team. The officer provides detailed technical, professional, policy, and operational support to solve complex problems, coordinating strategic planning, programme and project management, and policy development to support organisational objectives. Additionally, the role requires substantial public contact concerning complex or sensitive issues and liaising with a variety of internal and external stakeholders in a representational capacity.
Responsibilities include:
- Demonstrating exceptional organisational skills and high attention to detail.
- Championing plain English and ensuring all materials are accessible and align with style and branding guidelines.
- Leading by example, serving as a trusted communications expert, and assisting key internal stakeholders and business partners in delivering project objectives.
- Drafting clear, concise, and effective messaging for various audiences, including creating talking points and speeches.
- Contributing to the development and delivery of communication plans, progressing approvals, and coordinating go-live collateral.
- Identifying and cultivating important internal stakeholder relationships, addressing and resolving emerging challenges.
- Evaluating the impact of communications, identifying future learning's, and determining whether project objectives have been achieved.
- Supporting team members with administrative, technical, and procedural tasks.
Requirements
- Australian Citizenship
- Proven experience in strategic communications and team leadership.
- Strong organisational and attention-to-detail skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to handle complex tasks and provide detailed policy and operational support.
- Knowledge of communication planning, risk analysis, and content creation for multiple channels.
