Randstad is partnering with an APS Agency to fill an APS6 role through a non-ongoing contract or S26 transfer. The Agency we are working with is unique in their broad operational and strategic remit. The available position sits within a branch that is responsible for driving centralised strategy, capability and investment development, managing performance reporting and business planning for the Agency as a whole.

The APS6 Policy Officer - Capability Planning will work as part of a small team to assist in the development and implementation of Agency wide capability and investment policies and procedures. Duties will include:
- Build subject expertise to undertake research and analysis to develop evidence-based policy
recommendations - Interpret and integrate information gathered from a wide variety of sources, including policy
methodologies, and capability SME stakeholders, to distil key policy issues - Evaluate costs, benefits, risks and opportunities associated with identified policy options to
recommend solutions suitable to the Agency context - Identify capability issues and opportunities that arise from activity within business areas or as a
result of environmental changes, which are likely to have whole-of-Agency implications - Support engagement with interested and affected stakeholders to provide advice and guidance
on Agency capability and investment policy and procedures
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
- Experience in policy development and implementation
- Excellent written and verbal communication, research and analysis skills, including ability to draft a
range of documentation - Demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Sound strategic thinking skills, including ability to maintain and apply awareness of local and global
developments, current affairs and policy development and evaluate broad environmental factors - Ability to build strong working relationships across multiple business areas and to work
collaboratively with key stakeholders
Ideally you will hold a minimum Baseline security clearance (preferred) or willingness to obtain. Canberra is the preferred location however other locations may be considered.
Salary will be based on the Agency's enterprise agreement (and any negotiated flexibility arrangements) at the time of onboarding. Approximate salary bands (prior to IFA) are:
APS6: $94k - $107k + 15.4% superannuation
