About the Opportunity

As the Payroll Team Leader, you will oversee a small team to deliver customer-focused payroll services within legislative frameworks and established procedures. Your role will involve ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll and the application of enterprise agreement conditions.

You will act as a positive and proactive team leader, offering guidance to your team on complex tasks. Through regular performance discussions, you will support the development of your team and foster a high-performing work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a team responsible for administering payroll processes.
• Monitor and manage team workload and performance.
• Provide a customer-focused service desk, offering sound, timely, and accurate advice on pay, conditions, policies, processes, and systems.
• Handle complex payroll and worker's compensation processes, resolving issues and escalated enquiries/complaints for a payroll team of over 650 employees.
• Identify and implement improvements to policies, processes, and systems.
• Assist in managing and administering the Aurion system, including generating reports as needed.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the organisation and with external stakeholders.

Requirements

• Australian Citizenship.
• Proven ability to manage a payroll team, conduct performance conversations, and lead change and improvement initiatives.
• Ability to prioritise tasks, work under pressure, and meet required time-frames and business outcomes.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of payroll legislation, including handling complex pay and worker's compensation issues.
• Experience using the Human Resources Management Information System - Aurion (desirable).
• Highly developed written and oral communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders professionally and credibly.
