Are you an experienced finance professional with strong accounting expertise and a proactive approach to stakeholder engagement? We are seeking an APS6 Finance Officer to join a collaborative Federal Government agency team. This role provides the opportunity to deliver high-quality financial management services, offer strategic advice, and support decision-making through effective forecasting, budgeting, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead end-of-month reporting activities, including journal preparation, transaction analysis, and financial report production.
- Assist with budgeting processes, including budget allocations, phasings, and preparation of submissions for senior governance committees.
- Provide financial analysis and strategic advice to support business decision-making and project delivery.
- Prepare and review data for workforce allocations to projects and contribute to project forecasting.
- Ensure the accuracy of financial records, including regular general ledger, cost centre, and purchase order reviews and amendments.
- Engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to implement financial process improvements and drive operational efficiencies.
- Support the financial decision-making process and contribute to the successful delivery of projects within the branch and portfolio.
Essential Criteria:
- Solid accounting knowledge and experience in financial management, forecasting, budgeting, and reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency in SAP and SAP Business Technology (SAP BT) systems.
- Sound verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex issues and recommend solutions.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver outcomes within tight deadlines.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and business requirements in a dynamic environment.
- Professional qualifications with CA or CPA.
- Australian Citizenship (mandatory requirement)
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience in financial management within the public sector.
- Knowledge of government budget processes and financial governance frameworks.
- Experience working with project teams or in a business partnering capacity.
