Your role includes advising senior leadership and government offices, collaborating with the Media, Communications and Engagement Branch, and working from the National Situation Room if needed. You will maintain strong connections with key stakeholders, including government officials and media, requiring excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Participation in the on-call roster, short-notice recalls, and interstate travel are required.

Successful candidate attributes:
Our ideal candidates will have experience as a journalist or in government media and communications roles, with skills in media, crisis communications, and public affairs. Key capabilities include strategic messaging and understanding different media needs (online, broadcast, print). Candidates must produce high-standard, audience-appropriate content and work effectively in fast-paced and crisis environments.
A degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related discipline is highly desirable.
Daily responsibilities include:
