The Biosecurity Plant and Science Services Division (BPSSD) plays a crucial role in safeguarding Australia's plant health, supporting the country’s economic and environmental stability. By focusing on plant biosecurity, we ensure Australia maintains and grows its access to international markets while protecting against biosecurity risks. Our division provides scientific advice, facilitates the safe importation of plants and products, and conducts important surveillance and risk management activities.
The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry is seeking a motivated BICON Content Author to join the Plant Systems and Strategies Branch (PSaS) and contribute to improving biosecurity risk analysis, systems, and stakeholder engagement. This team plays a vital role in managing the Biosecurity Import Conditions (BICON) database, ensuring that all relevant biosecurity import conditions are clearly defined and updated.
The Role
As a BICON Content Author, you will be responsible for working within a collaborative team environment. Your key duties will include:
... - Authoring and Structuring Content: Working with import programs and business content to develop and structure decision tree logic within the BICON system, ensuring all import requirements and procedures are accurately and effectively operationalized.
- Process Implementation: Implementing changes to import and permit conditions, ensuring alignment with established service standards and biosecurity objectives.
- Providing Technical Advice: Advising on the most appropriate methods for authoring BICON content to achieve program and stakeholder goals.
- Administrative Support: Performing system reporting, data analysis, and supporting the content change work program.
- Continuous Improvement: Contributing to projects aimed at enhancing BICON content quality, and assisting in the development and maintenance of authoring conventions and training materials.
- Stakeholder Management: Building and maintaining strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, providing clear communication, and participating in meetings and discussions.
