Randstad is recruiting for a Principal Business Services Officer position for a State Government Department on the Gold Coast. This is an exciting opportunity with an immediate start. This role is initially a 5 month assignment, with the possibility of extension.
You will be responsible for providing financial, procurement and governance support. You will be responsible for long and short term forecasting, financial planning, performance reporting and activity based funding analysis. You will work closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders. You will work closely with and effectively manage a complex range of stakeholders to influence decisions and drive financial and commercial performance and improvement in the division.
Key duties include:
... - Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop accurate budgets, forecasts, variance analyses, and reports that align financial performance with organisational objectives.
- Establish and maintain procedures for capturing cost and pricing data, while actively monitoring and analysing activity levels, resource utilisation, and financial data.
- Provide expert financial compliance advice, ensuring adherence to relevant accounting standards and government regulations.
- Prepare detailed reports and draft financial information for board-level review and engagement.
Skills/experience required:
- Highly desirable qualifications include a relevant tertiary degree in Business, Commerce, or Accounting, along with CPA or CA accreditation.
- Previous experience in a similar role within the Public Sector.
- Strong knowledge of budgeting and forecasting.
- Experience in monitoring and analysing financial data, including cost and pricing structures.
- Familiarity with financial compliance, accounting standards, and government regulations.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex data.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and guide decision-making.
- Proficiency in financial management software and tools.
